Arrive at Paro International Airport, where you’ll be greeted with a warm Bhutanese welcome. Drive to Thimphu, the charming capital of Bhutan (approx. 1.5 hrs). In Thimphu, marvel at the Buddha Dordenma, a towering statue overlooking the valley, symbolizing peace and happiness. Then you can do the warmup hike from budha dordenma to changangkha. This hike starts from the iconic Buddha Dordenma Statue in Kuenselphodrang and continues along a forested ridge trail leading to Changangkha Lhakhang. The hike is easy to moderate, passing through blue pine forests and offering wonderful views of Thimphu city below. Then visit the majestic Tashichho Dzong, a grand fortress that houses the throne room and offices of the King as well as the central monastic body. Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, take a spiritually meaningful hike to Cheri (Chagri) Monastery, founded in 1620 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The trail climbs steadily through cool forests rich in wildlife and religious significance, a sacred site for meditation and spiritual retreat. Later visit Wangditse Lhakhang, a hilltop temple offering sweeping views of Thimphu Valley. A gentle and refreshing walk through peaceful pine forests leading to the historic Wangditse Lhakhang. This trail is perfect for beginners, families, and anyone seeking a quiet, scenic hike near the city. Visit Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal and take a short, easy, and enjoyable nature trail starting near the Takin Preserve. This is one of the best quick hikes in Thimphu, ideal for a relaxing afternoon walk. Then continue to Local farm market A vibrant hub of local life and commerce, showcasing Bhutan's fresh produce, unique ingredients, and traditional handicrafts. Overnight in Thimphu.
After a good breakfast Drive to Dochula Pass (3,100masl), famous for its 108 memorial chortens and panoramic views of the Himalayas. Then hike to Lungchutse. Hike is one of Bhutan’s most scenic ridge hikes, starting from Dochula Pass aprox 2hrs. The trail winds through old-growth rhododendron forests, moss-covered trees, and peaceful meditation paths leading to Lungchutse Monastery. On a clear day, hikers can enjoy a sweeping 360° view of the Himalayan range. Then Descend into Punakha Valley to visit the stunning Punakha Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture built in 1637 at the confluence of the Phochhu and Mochhu rivers. Take a short walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley, known as the “Divine Madman.” End the day with a walk across the scenic Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan. Enjoy rafting or a riverside walk along the Mo Chu River (optional) Overnight in Punakha.
(Optional) after a good early breakfast take a short hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten This is a beautiful uphill hike crossing suspension bridges, rice fields, and pine forests to the iconic Khamsum Yulley Chorten, built to promote peace and harmony. The viewpoint offers a spectacular view of the lush Punakha valley and the Mo Chhu river. Then drive to Haa valley Nestled in the western part of Bhutan, Haa District is a serene destination that offers breathtaking landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. This secluded region is known for its rustic charm, untouched natural beauty, and tranquil environment, making it an ideal haven for those seeking solace away from bustling city life. With its lush valleys, dense forests, and majestic mountains, Haa is a paradise for nature lovers and adventurers alike. After a good breakfast prepare yourself for the Haa Panorama Hike one of Bhutan’s most serene and least-traveled valleys. The hike moves across meadows, pine forests, small villages, yak grazing areas, and breathtaking valley views and ridgeline viewpoints that showcase stunning views of Haa Dzong, temples, and surrounding peaks. Later if time permit you can visit Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple) and Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple), both dating back to the 7th century and linked to King Songtsen Gampo. Overnight in Haa
After a good breakfast drive to the stunning Chelela Pass (3,988m), one of Bhutan’s highest motorable passes, offering sweeping views of the Himalayas and Mount Jomolhari. Then hike to nunnery. this scenic downhill hike leads to the ancient Kila Goenpa Nunnery perched dramatically on a cliffside. The trail passes through alpine forests, wildflowers, and prayer-flag-filled viewpoints. Descend into Paro Valley and explore Rinpung Dzong, the “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels,” which has defended the valley for centuries. Visit the National Museum (Ta Dzong) to see art, relics, and cultural exhibits. In the evening, stroll through Paro town with its traditional shops and cafes. Overnight in Paro.
After an early breakfast, embark on a memorable hike to Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan’s most iconic site, perched dramatically on a cliffside above the Paro Valley. This sacred monastery is said to be where Guru Rinpoche flew on the back of a tigress to meditate. After descending, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in the 7th century, marking the introduction of Buddhism to the country. Optional visit to a farmhouse for a traditional hot stone bath and local hospitality. Overnight in Paro.
